How to do Shavasana with an eye pillow
Share
Shavasana (Corpse Pose) is the final pose in yoga, and is intended to relax the mind and body and relieve fatigue . It is also effective to do it before going to bed or after returning home.
At first glance, this pose appears to be a simple one that simply involves lying on your back, but in reality, it can be difficult to relax your body, or your mind may become restless, preventing you from getting the maximum benefit.
So, I will explain how I usually do Shavasana using an eye pillow.
1. Light exercises (downward dog, puppy pose, etc.)
You can relax more by using your inner muscles (core) a little before Shavasana.
2. Lie lightly on your back on a yoga mat.
3. Gently massage the back of your head, neck, and face with your hands. ( It is also effective to place a folded towel on your face or place a towel on the back of your head.)
4. Lift and straighten your left leg, placing your foot on the yoga mat in a circular motion, with your heel passing as far as possible. (Leg and foot position: Stand slightly wider than shoulder width apart, with your toes pointing outwards naturally.)
5. Do the same with your right leg. ( The space between the mat and your pelvis should disappear and your body should be firmly in contact with the mat .)
6. Lift your left arm and lower it, feeling as if you are lowering your shoulder blades (about one fist's width from your armpit).
7. Do the same with your right arm.
8. Lift your head slightly and stand up.
9. Place an eye pillow over your eyes and relax them ( it feels like you can't tell whether your eyes are open or closed ).
10. Relax your body as if you are falling asleep. Rest for a long time (approximately 5-10 minutes).
If you feel any discomfort, move your body to find a comfortable position.
11. When you wake up, don't sit up suddenly. Instead, move your fingers or feet little by little to wake up your body, then slowly turn over on your side before standing up .
Treating your body with care and respect has a positive effect on your mind.
What do you think? I hope it will be helpful. Thank you.
